College admissions counseling services are available beginning in eighth grade, and may include some or all of the following:
Advice on summer experiences and high school course selection
Evaluation of student record, including transcripts, test scores, and extracurricular activities
Explanation of admissions process (including testing options and timelines, application deadlines, and application options such as Early Decision and Early Action)
Creation of initial list of colleges to research and visit
Guidance on touring campuses
Development of balanced final list of 10-12 best-fit colleges, including ‘reaches,’ ‘targets’ and ‘likelies’
Assistance with resume development, activities lists, recommendation letters, and interview preparation
Comprehensive college essay coaching, including guided brainstorming, feedback, revision support, and proofreading
Guidance for students interested in attending university in the U.K.
Decoding of financial and merit aid offers and guidance for effective negotiation
Assistance with letters of continued interest (LOCI)
Support in making a final decision, whether student is matriculating or taking a gap year
Assistance with transition to college life
CollegeGroove works virtually and in-person with families in the Triangle and across the country. Services are offered in hourly packages, allowing for tailored support that caters to individual family needs. Free consultations are available to determine the most appropriate level of support.
