Services

College admissions counseling services are available beginning in eighth grade, and may include some or all of the following:

  • Advice on summer experiences and high school course selection

  • Evaluation of student record, including transcripts, test scores, and extracurricular activities

  • Explanation of admissions process (including testing options and timelines, application deadlines, and application options such as Early Decision, Early Action, etc.)

  • Creation of an initial list of colleges to research and visit

  • Guidance on touring campuses

  • Development of a balanced final list of 10-12 best-fit colleges, including reach, target and likely options

  • Assistance with resume development, activities lists, recommendation letters, and interview preparation

  • Comprehensive college essay coaching, including guided brainstorming, feedback, revision support, and proofreading

  • Guidance for students interested in attending university in the United Kingdom (UK)

  • Decoding of financial and merit aid offers and guidance for effective negotiation

  • Assistance with letters of continued interest (LOCI)

  • Support in making a final decision, whether the student will be matriculating or taking a gap year

  • Assistance with transition to college life

CollegeGroove works virtually (and in-person) in the Triangle and with families across the country. Services are offered in hourly packages, allowing support to be tailored to your family’s specific needs, rather than a one-size-fits-all solution.
